Retail Trader
Individual traders trading with personal funds.
Full Definition
A retail trader is an individual who trades financial markets with personal capital, as opposed to institutional traders who trade on behalf of organizations. Retail traders typically have smaller accounts and less market influence. Understanding how retail traders think helps identify where their stops cluster (liquidity targets for smart money).
Example
Retail traders often place stops just below obvious support levels, creating liquidity pools that smart money targets before reversing price.
