Basics
Timeframe
The time period each candlestick represents on a chart.
Full Definition
A timeframe (or time frame) refers to the duration each candlestick covers on a price chart - from 1-minute to monthly. Higher timeframes (daily, weekly) show major trends while lower timeframes (1H, 15M) show short-term moves. Multi-timeframe analysis combines insights from several timeframes for better trading decisions.
Example
A day trader might use the 4-hour chart for trend direction, the 1-hour for entry zones, and the 15-minute for precise entries.
